HYDNEYE LAKE 12½ ACRES OF MOSTLY FISHING PIERS AND WOODEN PLATFORMS
HCAC holds the lease to this fabulous fishery, which holds vast shoals of bream, tench, and roach. There are also a few carp, pike, perch, and eels, some to specimen sizes. HCAC also allows the odd coarse match bookings to other clubs or groups.
Night fishing is strictly controlled and only allowed to night ticket holders, who must apply in writing to the committee.
NO bait boats, bivvies, open fires, and barbecues. However, we do allow small fishing stoves during the damp conditions of winter.
PIKE FISHING is prohibited during the summer months – we can only fish for pike from 1st October until 31st March. Live baiting is NOT allowed.
There is a 2-rod limit.
The lake is open all year for coarse fishing.
Most of the usual methods and baits work well including traditional baits such as maggots, worms, sweetcorn, bread, and ground bait. The usual pellet and boilie approach works, however, scaled-down with a lighter tackle. Specimen carp tactics are not usually productive or necessary and the majority of fish are caught on feeder tactics, both cage and method feeders, though pole and float also work well. Please note our Pike rules when fishing for them, these can be found in our club rules section.
COARSE FISHING RULES – HYDNEYE LAKE
