Pevensey Haven - Rickney Cottage, West Bank, Downstream

Brief description of fishery:

SHCAC holds the lease to this 1½ mile stretch from Rickney Cottage downstream past the footbridge and the confluence of Chilley Stream to the end at the Horse Bridle Path Gate. The water here is 10 to 15m wide with a depth of 1 to 2m. Most of this stretch is lined with trees and bushes along the banks with reeds and lily pads along the margins.
Most of the usual methods and baits work well including traditional baits such as maggots, worms, sweetcorn, bread, and ground bait. The majority of fish are caught on pole and float, though feeder tactics, both cage and method feeders, also work well at times. Please note our Pike rules when fishing for them, these can be found in our club rules section.
